Rodney Pacitti
Adventure Fishing And YouTuber
Rodney has been consistently producing YouTube fishing content for almost a decade. His casual, no hype style and penchant for pushing the envelope with offshore adventures are mesmerising. From kayak fishing for pelagics to island hopping in a tiny inflatable boat and doing solo survival missions, there is entertainment galore for everybody.
Adventure Fishing With Rodney
- Rodney has been shooting YouTube fishing content for around 9 years and started out simply recording video of his kayak fishing. Looking for a place to host his video for sharing to a kayak fishing forum, he started uploading to YouTube on a channel called Rokkit Kit.
- The channel and videos are less hardcore sportfishing and more of an eclectic mix of lifestyle fishing and seafood gathering, island camping, spearfishing and solo survival missions.
- During the interview I talk with Rodney about what drives him to go solo island hopping and surviving only on what he catches, how he manages mindset and prepares mentally, and what kinds of gear he takes with him.
- The Berkley Shimmer shrimp gets a pretty good rap as it works well in shallow and deep water on a wide range of species and has be a reliable lure for securing a feed under plenty of situations.
- A lot of recent adventures have involved heading up to 40km offshore in a small inflatable boat to camp on remote islands. Recently he’s bought a small monohull sailboat and is planning longer missions with his wife and kids.
For The Youtubers
- Rodney is a full-time YouTuber, making a living from shooting videos of his adventures.
- For those who are serious about creating a YouTube funded fishing lifestyle business the ALF PLUS Edition over at Team Doc Lures includes about 20 minutes of additional interview where Rod explains the gear he uses for YouTubing, strategies for creating a sizable following (he currently has 435K subscribers) and the ways in which YouTube is changing for creators. He’s very open and matter of fact about what’s working and not working, differentiating, working with the algorithms and the level of editing and fancy videography required. Essential listening!
