Trinity Inlet Lure Fishing Experience

Verified by it's Owner

Cairns lure fishing charters, hosted and guided by one of the most experienced local experts, is what we deliver at Fish Hunter FNQ. We’ve got the boat, the equipment, the passion, and most importantly the knowledge, to provide fantastic full and half day lure fishing experiences. We supply quality Shimano reels and G Loomis rods, using 20 to 30 pound braid. These combos will handle just about everything you’re likely to encounter. Enjoy watching the prized Barramundi eating your shallow running lure in under a metre of water, or experience Trevally and Queenfish crash a surface popper. During the wetter months (January to May), we can travel to the upper reaches of the rivers chasing species like Sooty Grunter, Jungle Perch, Mangrove Jack and Barra, some of these days can produce unbelievable numbers of fish. We keep our numbers small and our experience big.

Overview Of The Experience

Trinity Inlet is a spectacular ocean inlet and extensive mangrove wetland on the doorstep of fishing paradise - Cairns, Far North Queensland. With limited freshwater inflow even during the wet season, the inlet ecosystem is tidally driven, resulting in diverse fish populations. Depending on the time of year, anglers can expect to ecounter iconic northern estuary species, such as barramundi, mangrove jack and fingermark bream, plus the oceanic visitors like trevally and queenfish.

Northern Australia experiences relatively large tidal movement, so a full day on the inlet allows anglers to take advantage of all the opportunities. Your guide will help you explore the dense mangrove forests that harbour large numbers of hungry and feisty mangrove jack, the wrecks and sunken structure that hold barramundi and fingermark bream and the creek mouths where at certain trevally and queenfish aggressively smash surface lures with reckless abandon.

Expect some wonderful tuition on skip casting to jacks, effectively working shallow diving jerkbaits for barra or popping and stickbaiting the surface feeders for splashy strikes.

And if you're Cairns-based then your vehicle travel will be minimised and your time on the water throwing lures will be maximised. In fact, you can be out of your hotel and into casting lures in just 20 minutes!

What's Included

Your experience includes all of the tackle that you'll need for the day, plus boating and safety gear and expert tuition, of course. A light lunch and refreshments are provided and we can assist with transfers and local accommodation if required (additional costs apply).

Personal effects such as hat and sunscreen, camera and polarised sunglasses are all you'll need to bring. That said, you are welcome to bring your own tackle if you wish.
